Job Overview
Location: Milton, Ontario
Structure: Single-story detached house
Problem: Nighttime wildlife noise reported in the attic, consistent with raccoon activity
Service: Raccoon removal
Visits: 2
Summary
Pest Control Milton responded to a report of nighttime attic disturbance at a single-story home in Milton. Our inspection confirmed raccoon access at a soffit intersection. A humane, non-lethal removal approach was completed over two visits, including installation of a one-way door, followed by permanent exclusion once activity ceased.
Background / Property Context
The property is a single-story detached house with asphalt shingles and multiple roofline intersections. October conditions provided clear access for a full exterior roof inspection, with no weather-related limitations noted.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported ongoing nighttime noises originating from the attic space, raising concern about wildlife presence and potential damage.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial exterior inspection, our technician identified a clear opening at a soffit intersection along the roof edge. The gap showed signs consistent with raccoon entry, including displaced materials at the soffit-to-roofline junction. Roof vents and surrounding shingles were also inspected, with no additional active entry points observed.
Photos show roof surfaces, vent areas, and a visible soffit gap consistent with wildlife access.

Cause Analysis
Soffit intersections and roofline transitions can create vulnerable points where materials loosen over time. Raccoons commonly exploit these areas due to ease of access and proximity to attic shelter. The single-story height and roof geometry made the soffit junction a practical entry location.
Treatment / Removal
A humane one-way door was installed directly over the identified entry point to allow the raccoon to exit the attic without the ability to re-enter. This approach supports non-lethal removal while preventing further access during the eviction period.

Exclusion & Repairs
After confirmation that activity had ceased, the one-way door was removed. The opening was sealed and reinforced with wildlife-grade screening, and adjacent soffit areas were checked to ensure continuity of the exclusion work.

Outcome & Confirmation
On the follow-up visit, the homeowner reported no further noise or signs of activity. All temporary devices were removed, exclusions were inspected, and no additional wildlife issues were observed following completion of the work.

Technician Notes
The work was completed by Ardian following a full roof inspection protocol. No access or weather limitations were encountered. All removal and exclusion steps were performed using humane, non-lethal methods appropriate for raccoon activity.
