Job Overview
Location: Milton, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-story house
Problem: Interior mouse activity and exterior rat presence
Service: Mouse treatment with exterior rodent management
Visits: 3
Summary
We responded to reports of nocturnal rodent activity inside the home. Inspection confirmed active mouse signs indoors and evidence of rat movement along the exterior foundation. Service was completed over three visits and included licensed interior treatment, exterior monitoring, and full exclusion once approved.
Background / Property Context
The property is a newer detached two-story home with stone veneer, multiple wall vents, and weep openings at grade. Landscaping and foundation features created sheltered conditions along exterior walls where rodents could travel and investigate access points.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported hearing rodent activity inside the house at night and was concerned about possible entry points and ongoing damage.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial inspection, our technician identified mouse activity inside the home, consistent with active ingress. Exterior inspection also noted rat activity near foundation-level openings and utility penetrations. Multiple wall vents and weep vents were identified as vulnerable access points.
Cause Analysis
Rodents were able to exploit unprotected vents and small exterior gaps commonly found on stone veneer homes. Nighttime activity aligned with mouse behavior seeking food and nesting areas indoors, while exterior rat movement was supported by ground-level shelter and access to structural openings.
Treatment / Removal
On the first visit, interior mouse treatment was completed by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Tamper-resistant bait stations containing commercial-grade rodenticide were placed in areas of high activity. Two exterior bait stations were also installed to address rat pressure around the structure.
Exclusion & Repairs
After reviewing findings, an exclusion plan was approved and completed on the second visit. Work included:
- Sealing six weep vents with stainless steel vented inserts
- Securing six wall vents with galvanized steel cages
- Installing approximately two feet of galvanized steel mesh to close additional access points
All materials were selected for durability and airflow while preventing rodent entry.

Outcome & Confirmation
By the third visit, the homeowner reported no further mouse activity in the attic or living areas. All exclusion work was inspected and confirmed intact. Exterior bait stations remain on a monitoring schedule to help reduce ongoing rodent pressure around the property.
Technician Notes
The work was carried out over three visits by our technician, Jason. Interior treatment, exterior monitoring, and structural exclusion were completed as planned, with no access or weather limitations reported during service.
