Mouse Activity Identified and Treated in Attic – Milton

Job Overview

Location: Milton, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-storey house
Problem: Mouse activity reported inside the home at night
Service: Mouse treatment
Visits: 3

Summary

Our team addressed reported nighttime activity inside a detached two-storey home in Milton. An inspection confirmed mouse activity in the attic. Interior treatment was completed, and activity was monitored over multiple visits. No further activity was reported by the final visit.

Background / Property Context

The property is a detached, two-storey residential home with finished interior spaces and an accessible attic. Exterior construction includes brick veneer, rooflines, and foundation-level vents typical of homes in the area.

Customer Concern

The homeowner reported hearing activity inside the house at night and requested an inspection to determine whether mice were present and how the issue could be addressed.

Inspection & Findings

During the initial inspection, evidence consistent with mouse activity was observed in the attic, including disturbed insulation. Exterior inspection identified several potential access points commonly associated with rodent entry, including gaps and vents at foundation and wall junctions.

Photos from the inspection show areas of attic insulation that appear disturbed, exterior wall and foundation features, and monitoring equipment placed at ground level. No identifying property details are visible.

Cause Analysis

Mouse activity in the attic was likely related to accessible exterior entry points combined with sheltered nesting conditions inside the insulation. Gaps at foundation vents and building transitions can allow mice to enter, particularly during cooler periods when they seek warmth. Without permanent exclusion, repeated entry can occur over time.

Treatment / Removal

Interior mouse treatment was performed by a licensed exterminator in accordance with Ontario Ministry of the Environment guidelines. Tamper-resistant bait stations containing commercial-grade rodenticide were placed in areas of identified activity. Stations were positioned to limit access by non-target animals and occupants and were intended for ongoing feeding and monitoring.

Exclusion & Repairs

Potential exterior entry points were identified, and an exclusion recommendation was provided on site following the inspection. Permanent exclusion work was not completed at the time of service.

Outcome & Confirmation

Over subsequent visits, activity levels were monitored. By the final visit, the homeowner reported no further mouse activity in the attic or interior living spaces. No new signs of activity were observed at that time.

Technician Notes

  • Visit 1: Full interior and exterior inspection completed. Mouse activity confirmed in the attic. Interior mouse treatment installed using tamper-resistant bait stations. Exclusion options reviewed with the homeowner.
  • Visit 2: Follow-up service conducted after continued reports over time. Treatment was repeated due to the absence of completed exclusion work.
  • Visit 3: Homeowner reported no further activity. No new signs of mouse presence noted during follow-up.
