Summary
We completed a two-visit squirrel removal and exclusion service after attic activity was reported during early morning hours. Inspection identified an open drip edge and related roofline gaps that allowed squirrel access. Humane one-way eviction was completed, followed by permanent exclusion and confirmation of resolution.

Inspection & Findings
During the initial exterior roof inspection, we identified an open drip edge section along the roofline that provided direct access beneath the shingles. Additional gaps were observed near soffit and roofline transitions. No interior inspection was required at this stage due to clear exterior entry indicators.

Cause Analysis
Squirrels commonly exploit roofline construction gaps, particularly at drip edges and soffit transitions, to access attic spaces. Repeated roof movement, weather exposure, and building design features can widen these openings over time. Once established, squirrels will reuse the same entry point until it is professionally excluded.
Treatment / Removal
A humane squirrel one-way door was installed over the primary roof vent access area to allow the animals to exit without re-entry. This method ensured non-lethal removal and prevented squirrels from becoming trapped inside the attic space.
Exclusion & Repairs
Exclusion work included sealing approximately fifteen feet of open drip edge using galvanized steel mesh, securing vulnerable roofline gaps, and applying caulking to an additional two-foot section identified as a secondary entry risk. All materials were installed to withstand weather exposure and prevent future wildlife access.
Outcome & Confirmation
At the follow-up visit, the homeowner reported no further wildlife activity. The one-way door was removed, all exclusion materials were inspected, and the roofline was confirmed to be fully sealed. No further squirrel activity has been reported since completion of the work.
